QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Know What to Expect

What's the difference between polished concrete and epoxy?

Polished concrete refines the slab itself with diamond grinding, densifier and polishing. Epoxy is a resinous system applied over a prepared slab, allowing flake or metallic effects.

How long does a flake floor take to install?

Timing varies with slab condition, repairs, system choice, temperature and the space. After seeing the floor, Empire can explain the expected installation and cure schedule.

Can my existing concrete be coated?

Many existing slabs can be finished after proper evaluation and mechanical preparation. Moisture, previous coatings, cracks and contamination all affect the recommended approach.

What does grind and seal involve?

The slab is mechanically ground to clean and open the surface, repairs are completed as appropriate, then a compatible penetrating or film-forming sealer is applied.

Are metallic floors slippery?

Like other smooth surfaces, traction changes when wet. Texture and slip-resistant additives can be discussed based on the room and how it will be used.

How do I care for my new floor?

Remove grit regularly, clean spills promptly and use the cleaning products recommended for your chosen finish. Avoid harsh or incompatible chemicals.
